Qualities to Look for in a Direct Sales Company

The first question we talked about when evaluating a Direct Sales company was….Finding a product or service that you enjoyed.

Now, let’s talk about the 2nd question -
Is the company you are looking at designed for YOU…not just the company…but YOU?

You want to make sure you are apart of a direct sales company that is offering you a system for YOU to succeed, make a great profit and provide flexibility for you and your family.
I also have a few RED FLAGS for you to watch out for.

The Direct Sales industry is one of the fastest growing industries...especially today with so many individuals looking for ways to supplement or even replace their income.
The fact is people can invest a very small amount to start their own business and in some cases make a great profit immediately if they do the research before.

Now I said "IN SOME CASES?"
Let me ask a question...is the business you are currently in, designed for YOU... to make a great profit…to succeed... and enjoy the freedom and rewards ...to replace your income...to actually pay the bills...to have fun?

Did you KNOW there is a difference?

Direct sales businesses like all businesses are in it to make a profit, that is just common sense but some are designed to actually GIVE BACK TO YOU in abundance without hoops and quotas.

Are you in your company to make a profit? To make enough for travel, bills or better yet change your future?
If so, give yourself the extra time to educate, evaluate and learn more about the company and what is set in place for YOU...not the company...YOU!!!

Do you know what to LOOK FOR when evaluating a company for YOU?
Here are just a few qualities that are set in place for you to succeed. Make sure that the company you choose is providing these key aspects.

Quality #1 - You buy the products at Wholesale
This allows you to make immediate income without the upfront cost. This shows the company is putting faith in you to succeed, by giving you the best possible price which gives you a high profit. They have taken from their profit and given back to YOU.
Red Flag....Do you buy at Retail? When you have a company that requires distributors to buy at retail...that says "We got our money, hope it works for you." This system is design for the COMPANY not YOU the distributor.
Think of it this way – If you have to buy $1,000 worth of product upfront retail cost, the company just made their profit whether you sell it or not. Is this looking out for YOU?
Quality #2 - The business plan is simple without all the quotas and requirements
A company that was designed for YOU will not stress you out over party quotas, business quotas and retail quotas. They have created a simple plan that allows YOU to succeed and make money without all the hoops. (Not unless you are joining the circus)
When a Company is simple without all the normal requirements, they want you to focus on building a business, helping others, and putting money in YOUR pocket from the very beginning, not expecting you to meet X amount of requirements BEFORE you get paid.
Company pressure = Distributor Pressure = hostess/customer pressure = the distributor burning out and quitting.
Red Flag...If you have to meet x amount of quotas BEFORE you get paid this is a key sign the company is not distributor friendly. Why? The sad truth is that most distributors don't last when there are high demands of quotas and requirement and end up quitting, yet the company got their money.
Quality #3 - Retail Profit margin above 30%
When you see a company giving the distributors more than 30% profit (retailing) this shows value and respect for those distributors. You started the business to MAKE MONEY so make sure the profit margin is going to allow you to do that.
Red Flag...  As a new distributor if you are making less than 30%, or better yet getting paid with more products, you may want to think about this. Why work hard for a company that is compensating you so little? Does this REALLY compensate you for your work?
Quality #4 - They offer quality and consumable products
A company that is Distributor friendly offers quality and consumable products. They want their distributors to continue to see the money coming in as well as make customers happy with the best of the best product line.

Consumable products that are at an affordable cost and quality are going to make a win-win for both YOU and the company, not to mention happy customers who come back for more!
Red Flag…Is your MAIN “flag ship” product consumable? It may be “cool” but you will have to work twice as much looking for new customer if it is not consumable. How long do you think distributors can keep that going?
Quality #5 - Having a choice in start-up packets
You should have choices. When a company is out to help you, they offer many options in packages when getting started. They understand that not everyone is on the same level financially. There is usually a pack that is considered your business in a box with everything you need and saves you money.
Red Flag...Make sure that no matter what packet you get started with you are actually getting PRODUCT for it. If a company wants you to pay them $800 to join and you get nothing for that – run, run as fast as you can!
Quality #6 - Offer Team training and support
When a company is distributor friendly they set into place training and support with systems in place to create success. Remember, YOU are the one that has to take the steps to implement the training.
Red Flag…Make sure you pick a sponsor that is going to invest time and support. You do not want to be just another number. Choose wisely.
Quality #7 – Profitable company plan
Company compensation plans  are as different and unique as each company. I am not going to take the time to dive into comp plans, just make sure you are comfortable with the comp plan and that you are making outstanding residual income, this is your future.
Red Flag…When you have a company that has a lot of quotas and requirements they tend to have a hard comp plan that doesn’t allows you to create a healthy residual income. There also tends to be complex quotas in place before you get paid, move up or qualify.

Think about this...the more hoops you have to jump through, not distributor friendly!
Don’t hesitate to ASK QUESTIONS and get the specifics of what is required to build your residual income.

There are fantastic companies that were designed for YOU in mind, just make sure you don’t do one of these mistakes, that most people do.
MISTAKES many often take.
Mistake #1 - Sign up because the product is "COOL"...yes it may be popular or trendy but ask yourself these questions...
  • Will you make a profit? Chances are you started this business to MAKE MONEY, make sure you are profiting at least 30% or higher from the beginning. If you make less than that, will that really add up to help pay the bills, go on a vacation or replace your income?
  • Is that "Cool" product consumable? The last thing you want to do when working from home is cause yourself MORE work...If it is not a consumable product you will have to continue to look for new customers month after month. That is taking time away for YOU and your family.

  • Is the company designed for you? It may be trendy but make sure YOU are not doing all the work to help JUST the company.
So many get wrapped up into a trendy product line but do not take the time to dive deeper to find out if the company representing that product has a solid foundation. So make sure to see if it has the above qualities.

Mistake #2 - Signing up without researching the company completely

Many get sucked into the excitement of their future sponsor and what they are telling them. People do sign up with people they connect and enjoy BUT, the mistake is taken when they do not dive deeper into the company.

You may have found a fantastic product and a cool sponsor but, make sure the COMPANY is designed for you to make money and enjoy the rewards of having a Direct Sales business.

There are direct sales businesses on the market that offer fantastic products, profitable comp plans and systems that are designed to succeed - Make sure to choose one that has the above qualities!

I want more than anything for this post to educate and give you a resource to learn more about OPTIONS you have with Direct Sales.
